Hard Water Removal for Windows in Miami, FL

Hard Water Removal

What's included

If your lower windows have white spots that a normal cleaning doesn't touch, that's hard water. Miami-Dade's water comes out of the Biscayne Aquifer, a limestone formation, and while the county lime-softens what reaches your tap, well and irrigation water gets no such treatment. Every time the sprinkler mists the glass and dries, it leaves a little more calcium behind. After a year or two the spots etch in and look permanent.

They usually aren't. We use a mineral-removal compound and a polishing pad to lift the deposits off the glass — the mechanical polishing the glass industry reserves for set-in deposits, never a razor blade — then rinse with pure water. Light to moderate staining comes off completely; deep etching improves a lot but may leave faint ghosting where the glass surface itself has been eaten.

We'll tell you honestly which panes will come back fully before we start. If a pane is beyond saving, we'll say so rather than polish it for nothing.

  • Assessment of each stained pane before work starts
  • Mineral deposits removed with a non-scratch compound and pad
  • Pure-water rinse so no new minerals go on
  • Frames and sills cleaned where deposits have built up
  • Advice on sprinkler heads that are hitting the glass
  • Optional glass sealant to slow re-spotting

Hard Water Removal

Common questions

Will hard water removal scratch my windows?

Not with the right compound and pad; we don't use razor blades on the glass. Coated or tinted glass gets a gentler product and we always test one spot first.

Can every stain be removed?

Most, yes. Deposits that have sat for many years can etch the glass itself, and etching can be improved but not fully erased. We'll show you the test spot and let you decide.

How do I stop it coming back?

Adjust sprinkler heads so they don't hit the glass — that's 90% of it. A sealant helps water bead off. Regular cleaning keeps new film from hardening.

Is this the same as regular window cleaning?

No. Regular cleaning removes dirt sitting on the glass. Hard water removal takes off minerals bonded to it, which takes a different product and much more time per pane.
